Czar's Blog #7 of 2019 - 2 tickets to the last Friday night game before the All-Star break

The Gigantes continue to play .500 ball in June. The last ten games have been 5 wins and 5 losses but they did (over 7 games against the Snakes, 3 in AZ and 4 at home) take the series against Arizona 4 to 3. For that trend to be meaningful something needs to happen – a trade for power, a call up going crazy (like Alex Dickerson?) or a meltdown of classic proportions of the other teams in the division.  However, the last two games have been eye-popping. For the Giants to score over 10 runs in two successive days (Sunday 10-2 and Monday 13-2) either the stars were perfectly aligned or a power surge in the system is emerging. This week should tell us whether those two games were an aberration or a sign of what may happen after the All-Star break.

Czar's Blog #6 - Rockies and Snakes - its Division Battle Time!

The Gigantes have had a decent June. They have played 20 games and won 11, including taking three series (Brewers, Snakes and Padres) from teams on top of them in the standings.  That’s better than .500 ball. If that trend continues through the summer by September they may be back in contention for a wild card spot. Climbing back into the standings after having stunk up the place so badly in April and May will be a challenge – but baseball is a marathon and not a sprint (at least not until September). Let's take one game at a time.

Czar's Blog #5 - Dodgers, Padres and Brewers

The Giants are struggling right now. They are playing .500 ball on the current road trip against the other struggling NL teams (the ones in the NL East – the Marlins, Baltimore and the Mets). The G-Men are 16 games back of the Dodgers and appear fated to be looking up at division leaders at least until the All-Star break (and probably longer), when we will hear about trade plans for the good pieces of the team – Bumgarner, Crawford, Belt, Panik and Longoria. Every single position player is on the block but probably not the pitchers except for Bum and maybe Will Smith, and probably not Posey, who will be the mentor for Joey Bart when he comes up.

Czar's Blog #4 - Giants in town this week against Braves and the Snakes - Games available

The first quarter of the Giants’ season has been a strange, weird, trip down a rabbit hole. Many of you out there will ask me “what can I expect with a team that is picked to finish last and is in the midst of a serious re-building”?  Well,  I expect stability, well played baseball games and enjoyable evenings at the most beautiful ball park in baseball (I’m still wrapping myself around “Oracle” – is there such a thing as the curse of Larry Ellison? We might have better luck if he puts the Giants logo on his Americas Cup sailboat)

Czar's Blog # 3 of 2019 - 5 Game Home Series - Cincinnati and Toronto

It’s an interesting time in Giants land.  They are tied with the Rockies for last place in the NL West (7.5 games back of LA) but have been settling down and playing .500 or better ball over the last two weeks.  After getting hammered by the team from the Bronx, the G-Men took a series from LA, split a series on the road against Cincinnati (who comes into town tomorrow night), and right now are on the road in Colorado with the series on the line today.
