The Season is young, and the G-Men are playing like its Little League.
The 5th walk-off this year on Sunday was thrilling. Anytime someone rounds the bases on errant throws from two major league infielders, it’s immediately labeled a “little league” home run. However, that conclusion minimizes from the focused attention that Ramos (and Matt Williams, the 3B coach) were demonstrating on the field. 5 walk-off wins are incredible anyway you look at it. That says something about the team. The Giants are 19 and 10 and leading the NL West (in a tie with the team from LA, without LA’s 700-million-dollar man) and heading into an important two-game series in San Diego against the second-place Padres.
The G-Men (and Buster Posey, the thread that ties the players together) tried not to read too much into the 21-6 Cactus League record, but they’re winning close games, erasing early deficits, rallying for thrilling walk-offs at home, beating tough teams on the road and having loads of fun doing it. It’s an incredible start given this team, except for adding Adames and Verlander (a future Hall of Fame pitcher) is nearly identical to the 2024 team that seemed like it couldn’t string together meaningful wins at any point in the season.
Is that like Little League? As I recall it from when I managed a Little League team and we were on a winning streak, absolutely yes! Ladies and Gentlemen, the Giants are having fun, and so are we.
The Upcoming series – The Rockies are Hungry and Dangerous
The next home series starts on Friday. The 4 and 24 Rockies are snake bit so far this season (they are calling it the “purple pratfall”) but they still have major league players with every chance of hitting home runs (hello Hunter Goodman and Jordan Beck), and they would like nothing better than to unseat the division leading G-Men. These games may not be the walk in the park that the scribes expect.
On the Board ready for pick up are:
5/2 FRI [7:15] Rockies [4]
5/4 SUN [1:05] Rockies [4] – Star Wars BB-8 Jersey
Let the torture continue.
Ciao, and GO GIANTS!

THE PROTOCOL: The firm has four seats in Section 118 (Premium Lower Boxes), Rows 25 and 26. These are awesome seats directly below the press box and 25 rows behind the home plate on the left side behind the screen. It is foul ball territory for left-handed batters so bring your glove – I have collected 22 foul balls myself over 23 years and am looking for more. If we don’t use all the tickets ourselves (or clients and friends of the firm don't claim them by calling me and reserving a game), then my next step is to give the tickets TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO GETS BACK TO ME PROVIDED THAT THEY ARE SERIOUS. If you ask for the tickets and don't use them, you will be taken off the list unless there is a seriously good reason. There will be a waitlist.
When there are four seats available (we split up a lot of games) we will allocate the tickets two and two if the first people back just want two tickets. You can also go for four and might get them. I'm the Czar, my call.
Oh, and BTW, The Czar found the original Hinman & Carmichael brick from 2000 (after looking for it every year since 2000) and found H&C’s Gotham Club Founders Bat! If you are on the patio, or in the Club, look for the symbols of baseball!
